At yesterday's monthly EV Club meeting, I learned that Georgia Power now offers "time of usage" (TOU) rates for residential customers. Previously that was only available to commercial customers.

It requires a fancier power meter (on the side of the house) but they recently finished upgrading the whole state here.

This would allow for charging the car overnight at discounted electrical rates. It may also be useful to you if you are willing to relax the air conditioning setpoint during the afternoon hours.

I need to write about the "telematics" revolution. OnStar, remote monitoring, remote lock/unlock, alarming, remote cabin temp preconditioning (i.e. AC or heat) on house power, charging interrupt notification, Kindle's free data service, ubiquitous data connectivity. Wow.
